Its my second. I had one around a year ago, but their hadn't been any games for a while so sold it. The new MGS game is coming out for it so my partner picked me one up as an early birthday present. Now ive got it I realise how bleak things look for the bloody thing.

In the UK at least, the list of games coming out in the next few months is tiny. Asda don't sell PSP games at all. Tesco only had a small section, ditto for Game and Gamestation. On the plus side the games are dirt cheap, I got Crazy Taxi online for 1p. And I still have LBP and Gran Turismo to pick up. Beyond that though, things are very sparse.

I also didn't think this 3000 model is as well made as my last 2000 model. Just feels cheaper overall. Didn't help that ive not even had it a week and Gamespot reported Sony's plans for a PSP2. At the least it better be backwards compatible.

The DSi I have has been pretty slow for games as well over the last few months. But down the line there is Okamiden, Dragon Quest IX, Pokemon Black and White, Golden Sun and a fair few others.

I still have my launch PSP 1000 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I've never been a fan of handhelds but I grabbed it day 1 just to see what Sony would do in Nintendo's previously uncontested arena. These days it's just my music player.

I think the main reason the PSP never really caught on was because Sony misjudged the market. They figured Nintendo had always focused on kiddy games and they could corner the market on handheld mature games. The problem was that in reality, people don't seem to want to play those games on the go. People want a light simple gaming snack wrap they can take with them and Sony's serving up a hearty steak dinner with an extra helping of potaters with games like Killzone, Resistance, and God of War.

It's not that the games are bad, it's mostly that people prefer to play those kinds of games on consoles and not handhelds.

To be honest I took my PSP back after a month. There is practically nothing comingout on it anymore, and I don't even know why Sony keep advertising it. Oddly enough the PSP itself has sold loads, its just developers would rather make games for the DS.

As for why the PSP has flopped, its for 2 reasons, the type of games it has, and the lack of them. There are far too many ports of games already available on the PS3, like Dantes Inferno, LBP, Modnation etc. Chances are people already have Sony's main console, so why would they wan't to play stripped down versions of these games? Well they wouldn't, and thats been the problem. God of War and MGS on the PSP were original stories though and sold in their millions, but things like this were few and far between. And it doesn't help that other titles were available on the PS2.

In the end it has a poor game catalogue with around 20 really good games (and that includes sequels too), and for the amount of years the console has been out, its just not enough.
